History

Ponyara Preschool was approved as a Community based Preschool by the Department of Community Services sometime during 1935.

The Preschool rented two rooms from the Uniting Church, Ponyara Rd, Beverly Hills (giving the Centre its name) and commenced operation as a session preschool for twenty-five three to five year olds.

In 1980, the Preschool was advised that due to the widening of King Georges Rd, the Preschool would lose its playground and would have to move. After much searching the Preschool moved to the Scout Hall in Penshurst Rd, Narwee, in August 1982.

The parents at Ponyara spent many years fundraising and then had difficulty trying to find a more suitable location for the preschool. The Centre finally found a suitable property at 7 Violet St Roselands in 1992 and used the fundraising money to purchase it.
